What do DP trainees learn?

- Dynamic orientation may be absolute, meaning the location is locked to a fixed point on the seabed or relative to a moving target, such as another ship or an underwater vehicle. Weathervaning is the practice of positioning a ship at a suitable angle to the wind, tides, and current.
DP capability defines the station-keeping capacity of a DP vessel under specified environmental and operational conditions. The optimum environmental conditions under which a DP vessel can hold its location and head for a planned thruster configuration are determined using DP capacity analyses.
